Anna Hibiscus’ Song

A new theatrical retelling of the story of Anna Hibiscus by Atinuke adapted for stage by Mojisola Elufowoju – our vision is for a piece of theatre that unites the best of African and Western live performance practices to bring to life Anna’s stories and world.
The piece would be a feast of African traditional music and dance, storytelling and chants, where audiences are enveloped and engaged in the storytelling at every point. It will feature authentic voices from the African diaspora here in the UK, in a celebration of culture, heritage and the diverse makeup of modern families.

Creating a show that encourages young children (and their grown ups too!) to recognise the beauty in difference, the connection in the things that we share and to find magic and joy in the world every day.
